Horrible Bosses (2011)

Starring: Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx

Directed by: Seth Gordon

Let me start by admitting that when the movie was first released in cinema few months back, I decided against watching it despite having multiple opportunities to watch it. The reason was simple: I thought that, based on the trailer, the movie would be just okay and thus not worth cinema time. Trust me; it was not because of its genre. I am fine of watching comedy-drama in cinema. It just at that point, the trailer did not really induce me to watch the movie despite the all star line-up including Jennifer Aniston aka Rachel from Friends. I love her, I do!

But I was wrong. The movie is good. Yes, it is very entertaining, funny, smart, and it really stands out that the ordinary class C drama-comedies out there. Jason Bateman, once again, proved us that he was suited for that type of genre. Charlie Day’s goofy character put colour in the movie, but Jason truly outclassed everyone in that movie. The jokes are not lame. The plot is succinct and to the point. It surely does not waste any screen time despite, again, the all star line-up that should have deserved more screen time.

Sexy and seductive scene by Jennifer Aniston <3

Interesting cast by Collin. To think he was once this awesome guy in Phonebooth!

Jennifer Aniston played Charlie Day's sex-crazed-maneater boss.
Anyway, Horrible Bosses is about horrible bosses. I cannot really say much, it is pretty much self-explanatory. These three guys (Jason, Charlie, and Jason) were having truly horrible times at their work place because of their respective bosses. So they planned to kill them.

I would not mind watching it again because of Jason Bateman of course (and Jennifer =p).

Trespass (2011)

Starring: Nicholas Cage, Nicole Kidman, Cam Gigandet, Liana Liberato

Directed by: Joel Schumacher

Let me start by saying that I am huge fans of both Nicholas and Nicole =D I love almost all of their movies. Nicholas is just too awesome. Nicole is flawless.

This movie is about home invasion: an attack to a rich family’s residency ala Hostage (remember Bruce Willis) and When a Stranger Calls (who is that hot chick again, Camile something?). So yes, the whole movie takes place in this one super rich mega cool house with Nicole playing the mother and Nicholas the father of a young teenage girl.

Without revealing any spoilers, I just want to comment that the movie is a cool in a way that it is unpredictable and there are so many hidden elements behind a simple hostage situation. The plot is deep, yes, it is not as simple as the situation brings upon. The characters, well, in addition to the family of 3, there is only the group of 4 hostages: 2 brothers, 1 guy, and one girlfriend. It is a small number but I think this is good because the director manage to exploit each characters. So there is no simple cameo role for any hostage like in many other films where the hostage was only to come, shout this and that, and got killed. Instead in this movie, every character is unique.

Furthermore, what makes this movie NOT boring despite its monotone location setting and few casts, is that there is so many twist and turn. Very interesting. The dialogues are tense. The actions are intense. There is suspense all over. Nicholas, again, acting is just world-class and once again proves why he is one of the best A-class actors. Nicole is, again, flawless, be with or without botox, she is just too elegant. You can’t really take your eyes off Nicole.

Awesome family =D (picture taken from guardian uk)
What I learn from this movie:
  • Big house is redundant. You do not need one. Too big makes you scary. It also draws attention from other people. It may lead to unwanted crime. Outside people may be jealous. Criminals may target your house. And come on, I am sure it is too damn difficult to maintain such a big house right.
  • Find a good wife. She may be very pretty and sexy and everything. But if she likes to have an affair, or she cannot control her lust to other guy (especially when you have to go to work or away for business for an extended period of time), then you will be in trouble. Furthermore, down the road, you two will learn more about each other and people inevitable make mistake. If she makes mistake, make sure you can totally forgive her. And this is tricky. Sometimes even if you are able to forgive her, sometimes, the knowledge itself (the fact that you know she has done that) could destroy your relation. But oh well, love is complicated eh. Love is blind. Love trumps everything. Right?

Breaking Dawn

Contrary to the many popular belief that twilight saga sux, I actually find it to be okay. I mean, honestly, its is not bad AT ALL. In fact it made me actually wonder why despite the millions millions of gross revenue the movie franchise had earned (and it is expected to increase or even multiply by next season due to the second part of the breaking dawn saga), I keep on stumbling into many blogs and articles and posts saying how the franchise sux.

Yes, I agree Harry Pottes is much much better. But Twilight definitely does not fall into category of SUX. I mean seriously, the effect is nice (unlike Avatar – not the James Cameroon’s blue people, but Avatar the Airbender movie), the props and settings are all well planned. The characters are well suited. The acting is okay – not as bad as it is often talked or critiqued. Yes maybe the story line is a bit slow. The whole movie is about a wedding, honeymoon, and the pregnant period. lol. But still, it does not downgrade any elements of the story. Even the scene during honeymoon period where Edward carried Bella and jumped off a cliff needs a lot of effort to take!

Moreover ,there are a lot of sexy scenes =D And Kirsten Stewart is pretty!

Pictures taken from reelempire.com and hollywoodlife.com

Meanwhile as I mentioned this to my peers, they all say they hate Twilight and that they would not watch it, and sometimes, they have not even watched it and yet because of the spread of word of mouth, they were influenced and decided to hate it. I mean, seriously, people, you should watch it first then you can judge! Don’t believe in what people say! Movies are subjective.

Yihang always said the movie I like sux. But then again, if I like it, so be it. I guess my point is, everyone has different taste, and don’t because other people hate it, then you decide to hate it. Be yourself, and watch the movie on your own first! Then you can tell people what you think.

And yes, the power of word of mouth is spooky!

My favorite scenes would be the opening scenes where Bella and Edward got married. Jacob got the invitation, transformed into the wolf and ran after. Intense!

I Don't Know How She Does It

I watched this movie on a sunday with my gf before church and what I like about this chick flick is the fact that it is succint. Unlike many other Sarah-Jessica-Parker movie, it is 89 minutes long. It is not draggy (recall Have you heard about the Morgans? and of course the two-hours ++ SATC!). I Don't Know How She Does It goes right to the point!

Plus got James Bond (Pierce Brosnan)!

But nonetheless, yes, it is still, indeed, one of those SJP movie. Touche!

The movie brings upon the idea of "LIST" how guys don't come up with a list while girls do. I beg to differ because I do make a list. In fact, I always make a list. It helps me keep in track and remind me of things I need to do. This is particularly useful during busy days like when I have 9-5pm class with many errands to do. So yeah, GUYS do make a list, mind you that Sarah!

Do you make a list?

awesome scenes from movies

over the course of my life, i have watched millions if not hundreds of thousands of movies.. the following are the list of my favorite scenes.. it does not necessarily means i love the movie, but i do LOVE the scene so much and i dont mind watching that particular scenes over and over again..some of the scenes give me goosebumps, some are just plain awesome! so i've decided to compile the list just in case one day (twenty, thirty years down the road) i forgot..

in no particular orders:
- "bring on the big buddha" (Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen): the opening scene where optimus prime falls from the sky while transforming!
- "give me the football" (Iron Man 2): on the french grand prix where he changed using his mobile suit!
- "this is john connor" (Terminator Salvation): when command plan to attack skynet while john needs more time to save his dad.. he made a speech to the people.. and when kate, his wife, asked "what am i supposed to tell your people when they find out you'r gone".. he replied "i'll be back!" (ala arnold in the prev terminator lol!)
- "mr president" (X-Men 2): from the moment Jean had to make a choice to stay and sacrifice herself in order for the rest to fly off the flooded damn.. and then continues to the mr president's final scene where he was about to announce to the public about the war, Professor X stopped the time and talked to him, so cool! It ends with a nice touch of a phoenix shadow flying fadely on the sea surface ;D
- "how could u stand in his place?" (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2): when severus orders the hogwarts student to reveal info about harry, harry came out of the crowd and said "how could u stand there in his place? he trusted u! how could u.." and then mcgonagal protected him and fought with severus.. severus escaped.. the building of the wall of protection surrounding hogwarts!!! and then the ending scene where harry saw the pensieve of snape all so awesome till the end =D

SAW

i am not a big fan of horror movies - it's true - especially those involving ghosts/spirit/supernatural shit.. yet lately, i succumbed to my oddly desire of watching horror movie (again, definitely not those ghosts stuff), but instead in the genre of killing, murders, grotesque, sadistic shit..

enter rest stop.. my first stop in those genre.. rest stop 1 and 2.. apart from the cute girl in rest stop 1 and their trademark that “all movies should have at least 1 nude scene) – yes the cute girl strip all the way – the movies are just okay.. the image of the trail’s people are just too disturbing.. makes me wanna throw up..

but what I want to talk about now is not rest stop, but SAW.. actually ive been wanting to watch that movie since like forever, but was just too scared.. hahaa.. stupid really.. but I finally had the chance to download all the 6 installments of SAW franchises.. watched them all.. it was fantastic!

1. I LOVE THE FREAKING ENDING!!! THE ONE WITH THEIR TRADEMARK SOUNDTRACK TENG TENG TENG!!!!

Indeed, the ending was just so intense.. a lot of cool revelation, scary – but cool and it just gave the movie their own star power and bring the movie to a whole different level..

The scenes that are supposedly grotesque is not really that grotesque.. perhaps the disturbing posters corrupt our mind already.. but when u watch the movie, it happens so quickly and u could always blink slightly more often to avoid that scenes =p

What I like to give remark is the brilliantness of the idea behind the movie. It is indeed – SMART.. it is unlike those movie of killer running after hot babe like in I KNOW WHAT U DID LAST SUMMER and stuff.. but it is really smart.. there is a principal – and ideology, that makes you somewhat think twice as to whether the JIGSAW (the murderer) is indeed right?

He, after all, gives the already corrupted victims what other psychopath does not – a chance..

my 3D experience

dont ever go watch a 3D movie with your glasses on.. especially if urs is a tag heur which frame is elasticly bendable.. not only it will screw up ur bloody expensive glasses, you will have an extraordinarily irritating experience throughout the movie: heavy glasses hanging on ur nostril, twitching every now and then to adjust the double glasses, and you can practically see ur frame regardless whether u put the 3D in front or behind ur glasses..

sigh..

in short, WEAR CONTACTS u fool!

3D movis is not bad thou =p

michaelbayisdamnsex

not long ago my friend asked me regarding a director - she has to write this essay regarding a director and his characteristics and some interpretation regarding it..

i suggest: MICHAEL BAY - 17feb65 - michael benjamin bay

director of: transformer 2007, the rock 1996, armageddon 1998, pearl harbor 2001, bad boys 1995, bad boys II 2003, the island 2005..

first of all let's admit that all of his movie are just simple damn sex!

and after just watching armageddon (which i found out that chapter 27 music is crappy - then i went back to hmv to change it - then somehow when the guy played it on their dvd player - it bloody worked - then i had to eat my shame and go back home T_T), i just have to admit AGAIN that ARMAGEDDON IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's simply damn sex! bruce willis super cool, and everything is just damn cool, intense, emotional, nice, yeah all the good adjective i can give.. *mind the lack of vocab as my english is just simply bad..

so the first thing about michael bay is that in all of his movie there is this so called slow moe sunset scene whereby the two main leads (doesnt hv to be boy + girl or lover) give this look to each other and to the surrounding.. the camera will trun 360 and with damn cool soundtrack, the moment is just damn perfect.. and this moment is just so damn cool that i can actually notice it in his other movies.. armaggeddon: remember the scene before they went to space, whereby bruce and his daughter have this dialogue in the middle of some random ruine.. she said smt like "say i promise, i will be back.. and if it's not too much, please bring back my fiancee too".. and then in the island.. the walking out of the lab/vacinity scene? in transfomer: when the decepticons shot a missile on sam and co.. then after the blast, sam woke up and look at the hot girl.. u know rite???
nicolas cage moment after the gun is shot at him.. yeah.. i like this moment and i just realised that it is so michael bay.. so if i were to interpret this to something.. as in what is the purpose of this random scene? HOPE, i would say that..

as one can realize, michael bay movie is all about present, all about WHAT HAPPEN NOW, and the scale is big.. like the future of the world depends on this one guy.. (take bruce willis and co to save the world, or sam to help the autobot).. compare it with STEVEN SPIELBERG - you will notice that all of his movies are about things IN PAST or IN FUTURE - im not saying is bad things because indiana jones 4, minority report, war of the worlds and many other of his sci fi movies are DAMN GOOD too - really.. but it is just different, as in different genre, different style, etc with bay.. Bay is more about now, about the things that affect our life and that CAN actually happen to our life NOW.. so i guess this make the audience able to relate better with the movie and the characters..

that's why, another similarity, is that in all Bay movies, there is this presidential speech.. like the president speech before bruce went to space.. the secretary of defence speech on transformer and the speech in pearlharbor.. and the military (ex-military) guy in the rock, and some random speech in the island (man, im so going to buy the island soon - now im dying to watch it).. well the point is to show the scale of the things happening - as u can see people from all around the world do care.. there are always short random scene of people in india, euro, wherever, wacthing tv or listening to the radio or even praying for the success of these protagonists as the fate of the world are on their shoulder..

it is indeed these kind of movies, and again, a super cool soundtrack that makes me and hopefully many other audiences in the world, fall in love with the movies..

well done bay!

u r the man!

xmasdinnerbbpremiere

today is boarding school's xmas dinner (yes.. 17th october xmas dinner) lolz..

wat becomes my highlight of the day is the screening of BOARDING BREAK - or wat is left of it after mdm's censorship and sucky laptop which resulted in 3x about 4-5 seconds of dark screen.. oh well.. it's the short version of boarding break..

plz go watch, sign in, rate and give lots of COMMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

boardingbreakpremiere

BOARDING BREAK is complete!

really impressive.. it takes me barely two days to finish the editing which is so much much much faster than the 1 year i take to finish the editing for a peace of mind.. lolz.. the reasons are simple: simpler story line, barely any blooper, shorter rough tapes..

and so.. it's done.. BOARDING BREAK's premiere is tonight 7pm after dinner.. this is the part where a teacher will come and analyze the video whether it is acceptable to be shown to the whole school, whether it is offensive or not, etc.. lolz..

oh well.. big deal..

and now im back boredom.. chuck 203 and gossip girl 206 is out though =)
waiting for prisonbreak, heroes, and one tree hill in matters of hours now =p

boardingbreak

yay.. i start filming again.. it's been a while since last time we concluded a peace of mind.. and with no school's video or interact club (since the acquisition by kang ping - no hard feeling tho, wish you all e best and stuff =) i hv not been making any video/movies.. i just watch them =)

but now that school's over.. and year 6s are making our last farewell short film:
BOARDING BREAK
coming soon: 171008

apart from people were ALWAYS and ALWAYS arriving late than what had been told, the filming was so much fun!!! indons (+ tong and raj) are really cool to work with.. either it is because of the lack of language barrier or is just simply because of the common goal, everything works fine!

so thank to you all: putu, steven, ivan, ronny, agong, ahim, calvin, tino, indra, tong, raj, samuel eng, and lex too.. (did i miss anybody?)

the editing is even cooler!!!!!!!!!! i hv been laughing all the way when editing this short film.. first of all the genre is a bit different then my usual emo/action/drama movie.. so i hv to first search for appropriate thriller musics to go along with.. and i dont like night scenes because well.. im filming with one god damn small video cam.. how clear do u expect? oh well, it's prison, i mean boarding break, so i guess it makes more sense to shoot at night..

but anyway..

hope you all like it =)

xoxo

west side story, phantom of the opera, high school musical, rent, beauty world, and now
mamma mia! meryl strip did a wonderful job here (although it is still damn weird seeing her from being that cold blooded lady in devil wears prada to dancing and rolling around on top of a room being the dancing queen) hahaha.. still tho - the music is catchy, and as you know, catchy music is the key to the success of a musical!

thedarkknight

for a guy who get 27 for his exam im sure need a bloody wake up call.. i mean godamnit im so fuckin slack.. and this is very bad.. as in literally.. i spent my friday and saturday watching episodes (nip tuck and one tree hill) and THE DARK KNIGHT and HANCOCK!! im going to meet my mum on sunday.. and next week will be like totally off because i will be busy with drama preparation for monday's tech run, tuesday's SYF preview, wednesday's SYF showcase, friday and saturday's FOA.. and of course i still have my IOC to study, theatre art RC and journal.. oh yeah.. im so dead..

nevertheless, the dark knight is like the best movie i watch this year.. or as a matter of fact it may as well be one of the best movies i hv ever watched!!!!!! kudos to christopher nolan and christian bale - and of course the late heath ledger - very scary tho..

- either you die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain -

it is a super intense, fast pace (personally i think it can afford to become a three hour movie), super cool two and half hour movie with super nice plot, lots of super nice moment, effect, twists, and well.. it's just super nice.. so sad rachel is not played by katie holmes tho.. and if there is subtitle i think it would be a bit nicer.. i couldnt really understand wat batman and gordon say - it's too low and unclear.. oh well.. but that doesnt affect my understanding to the movie and thus yeah.. it is definitely 9.5 out of 10!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg omg omg..

so i today i went to watch dark knite at the grand cathay with ivan ron agong ahim alvin clinton.. then went for dinner at plazing kopitiam where i ate some hot pot shit which is so tasteless - not goin to buy it ever again!.. but for dessert: my favourite, the best ice kachang ever, peanut & sweet corn ice kachang =) oh yeah.. then we ate this $5 sushi (which is already damn cheap.. they cut down the price from $12.80 because it was already quite late)..

damn tired now.. goin to watch BATMAN (1989 - with michael keaton and jack nicholson)
anyway just fyi: there are:
1. BATMAN (1989) with michael keaton as batman and nicholson as joker
2. BATMAN RETURNS (1992) still w keaton and danny devito as the pinguin looking guy
3. BATMAN FOREVER (1995) with val kilmer as batman and tommy lee jones as two face
4. BATMAN AND ROBIN (1997) george clooney as batman and arnold suasanaseger as mr freeze
5. BATMAN BEGINS (2005) christian bale
6. BATMAN GOTHAM KNIGHT - animated (2008) - supposedly act as a bridge between batman begins and the dark knight - dunno i hvnt watched it tho..

lolz..

and goin to sleep soon.. v sleepy..

i need to study..

shit

indianajonesandthesaturdayofmine

Harrison as Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones (1-4)
Jackie as Officer Chan in Police Story (1-4)
Bruce as John McClane in Die Hard (1-4)
Silvestre as Rocky Balboa in Rocky (1-6?) and as Rambo in Rambo (1-4)

notice the similarities? do you happen know any other similar movie? well all of them are about one guy/hero/icon/watever played by the same bugger throughout.. yes you can see the guy is getting old throughout.. well i like those kind of movies.. not only to mention that all three movie (indiana, police, and die hard - i hvnt watchd silvestre's) are all super damn good, it is also fun and interesting to watch the similarities (pattern and stuff), how the story line grows from one to next, and especially to watch the actors himself..
as technology grows, the quality of the movie itself grows and becomes much2 cooler, so that's another thing one should note - and thats why most of the latest installment is usually the best.. (not really lah, i enjoy all)..
but i enjoy watching the latest installment because there is more to watch.. u see, only if u hv watched all previous installments that you can see more.. it's usually in the form of inside joke sort of thing, like u notice some things that u only get it if u have watched their previous installments.. im so not saying you wont get the movie if you dont watch previous ones, as that will mean the movie sux =(
for example: for those who have watched indiana jones and the kingdom of crystal skull, at the beginning of the movie, indiana's car crashed boxes inside a hangar and you can see a golden table sort of thing -> that is the lost ark, artifact found in the first installment of indiana jones =)

*note that this is different from trilogy like superman, spiderman, star wars, matrix, etc.. i dont need to tell wats the diff rite?

anyway

saturday is my indiana jones day.. yes, i watched all four of them, although i didnt actually watch it in order as i woke up like 3pm.. (i hadnt had a proper sleep for 2days in a row, thursday i slept like 5.30am due to champion league's final which, again, man u won^^, and friday i slept like 4.45am to finish business IA).. anyway, yeah, i managed to watch lost ark and temple of doom (with its last 5 minutes postponed) before then went with my friends to watch kingdom of crystal skull! it was a wonderful 130 mins movie!!! excellent act by a 60 year old harisson.. shia la beouf is one hell of a lucky bastard - hope one day i can be him though hahaha =)

and now im watching the LAST CRUSADE.. xp

go indi!!! tat tarat tat tat tat tat

tat tarat tat tat tat tat.. cant get this tune out of my head =p

cameron

It suddenly becomes much much much more conspicuous that the trepidation of failing various assesment especially TOK and worldlit, is rather inevitable to me.. yes.. since so far i hv most if not all vague comments, time (level 3) and procrastination (level 7) as my enemy - worst enemy a student could possibly have.. i can only indulge till i bulge.. and on top of that there is HOUSE. m.d. which i found out from yihang that it stands for medical doctor - not that i havent actually thought of it, i mean how many possibility could there be huh? cameron is so cute!!! oh well, i am one episode away from season 1 lolz.. been watchin on average of 2 episodes per day! it getting much much more interesting with the appearance of this big rich black guy and the cameron's crush on house. cameron is so hot^^ yet, eventhough i have known that this may eventually become the bane my whole ibdp life - since like forever, i am still yet to ameliorate my attitude.. sigh..

SAT in less than 2 wks.. gotta cultivate my brain through learning vocabs!! argh..

oh yeah, dr cameron aka jennifer morrison is very pretty - have i mention that before? it's not a platitude lolz.. just being random.. the fact that there is cameron in house makes me realize that there is always one cute/pretty/hot girl in every tv series i watch, guess this is one of the business strategies one use to keep the customers huh.. let me see:
smallville - lana lang
oc - lindsay (only appears in season 2 T_T), then still got summer too
prisonbreak - sarah tancredy (who _ _ _ _ in early season 3 damnit!!!!!!! -> sorry for the spoiler leh)
friends - rachel
king of queens - doug's wife - shit i forgot her name!
gossip girl - jenny (the little sister - is that her name? kind of forget since the season stops at episode 13 long long long time ago lolz - but i heard episode 14 coming out^^)
rosswell - the girlfriend with handprint on her belly
house - cameron^^
one tree hill - sophia bush's character
joey - lots of random cute girl lah..
desperate housewives - none, all old middle age lady.. lolz.. gabby perhaps?
wah i watch a bit the lot argh^^ impressive resume lolz..
